When Finance Manager Jenny Skowronski learned she would be off work for a period in April 2020 because of the pandemic, she knew she wanted to spend her time away giving back to her community. She contacted her local Aging & Disability Resource Center (ADRC)—a center that supports adults and seniors with disabilities—to see how she could help. Through the ADRC, she learned Meals on Wheels sites were closed and there was a shortage of delivery drivers. Jenny saw this as an opportunity to support her community and volunteered to deliver meals to people in need four days each week. By the end of her time volunteering, she had delivered over 125 meals.

“[ADRC] is a great program that serves others. They even offer meals to get them through the weekend if needed. All COVID-19 safety measures were taken for this higher risk population, and they sure did seem to appreciate seeing a smiling face and warm wave when their meals were delivered each day!”

During her time away from work, she also squeezed in a Virtual 5k to support the United Service Organizations (USO) for Wisconsin.

“I served for nine years with the Wisconsin Air National Guard, come from a long line of service members, and am truly proud of my country. This was a nice way to raise some money and be part of something while staying Safer at Home.”

We’re proud of Jenny Skowronski for showing care in crisis by serving her community.
